Quarto
To Win:
Complete either a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line of four pieces sharing at least one of the four characteristics of each piece.
Overview:
The game consists of a 4x4 grid and 16 unique pieces. Each piece will have the following characteristics:
- Size (tall or short)
- Color (light or dark)
- Shape (round or square)
- Hole (hole or solid)
The object of the game is to line up at least one of the characteristics in a row on your turn, i.e., four talls, four lights, four solids, etc.
To Play:
No player ‘owns’ any of the pieces. To start the game, player 1 will give player 2 any piece to play. Player 2 must play this piece on the board. Pieces played on the board cannot be moved. Once player 2 has played the piece, it is now their turn to give any piece not currently on the board to player 1 to play. Player 1 would play that piece and then give player 2 another piece to play. Play continues in this matter until a row of four characterisitcs has been made or all 16 pieces have been played. Whoever plays the piece on the board to create a matching row of four wins. If all 16 pieces are played with no matching rows, then the game ends in a draw.
